From November 2026 onwards, I, Martin, will be sailing solo on the Biosphera in the Caribbean, as Katja needs to fulfil her teaching commitments in Germany. The aim is to enjoy relaxed trips with friends and pleasant people, and to share the experience of the fantastic sailing area of the Lesser Antilles. I plan to start in Tobago in November and then slowly sail northwards. Once in Antigua, I intend to use this as a base and offer trips from Antigua or Guadeloupe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talk to me if you have any ideas or wishes. The plan is not set in stone and not a classic commercial offer. I'm simply looking forward to experiencing this wonderful environment together with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Biosphera has 3 double cabins and theoretically two single cabins, but we use one of those for storage. I could take 6 people who know each other well; four people or fewer is naturally more relaxed and comfortable. The double beds aren't wide, so it's more for people who know and like each other. However, there's also a bench in the saloon and two benches outside where you can sleep well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don't need any sailing experience, although I'd be delighted if you actively wanted to join in. I'll teach you what matters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus of the trips will be determined by the needs of the crew. We can simply relax and chill, enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of the Caribbean, go snorkelling and swimming, as well as enjoy the sunset with rum punch. We can also sail more sportingly or even participate in sailing events such as \u201eAntigua Sailing Week\u201c or a Dominican sailing event. Night sailing can also be fun and is a great way to quickly cover longer distances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kitesurfing: We will pass by great kite spots and take the opportunity to kite over turquoise blue water and perhaps even with turtles. We can start from board or from the beach. You must bring basic knowledge as well as your own equipment. I am not a kite instructor, but I will bring you to the spots and also arrange transport back by dinghy if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will incorporate kitesurfing into the tours without it being the dominant theme that everything revolves around. At all these spots, you can also relax on the beach, snorkel or swim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We cook together and also share the small, everyday tasks on board. It's important that everyone feels responsible and observes simple things, like \u201eno sand in the boat and no sand in the dinghy\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maintaining the Biosphera involves quite high costs. Those who have been following us will also be aware of numerous repairs. We therefore need a contribution towards the costs of sailing with us. The guideline price is \u20ac600 for a week in a double cabin, which covers the onboard kitty, i.e. food, diesel and any marina costs. If you want the whole boat for yourselves and me, expect to pay \u20ac2,000 per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here's a brief description of the sections:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tobago \u2013 Tobago<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The focus of this cruise is to explore the beauties of the biosphere reserve in northern Tobago. This section starts in the northern part of Tobago, in Charlotteville. Charlotteville is a very unspoilt place that has hardly changed in the last 50 years. Located in the well-protected Man o' War Bay with many snorkelling opportunities, it is an optimal point to arrive in the Caribbean. Condor flies directly from Frankfurt to Tobago every Tuesday, which is why we are starting this cruise on a Tuesday. From Charlotteville, weather permitting, we will circumnavigate the northern tip of Tobago and anchor in Belmount Bay. Here there are fantastic snorkelling opportunities in colourful coral gardens. From there we sail to the southern tip of Tobago, where we will swim in turquoise blue waters. We will spend the remaining days of this one-week cruise leisurely along the north side of the island, stopping at beautiful places such as Plymouth and Castara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tobago \u2013 Grenada \u2013 Grenadines \u2013 St Vincent \u2013 Martinique<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This section starts in the northern part of Tobago, in Charlotteville. Charlotteville is a very unspoiled place that has hardly changed in the last 50 years. Located in the well-protected Man o' War Bay with many snorkelling opportunities, it is an optimal point to arrive in the Caribbean. Condor flies directly from Frankfurt to Tobago every Tuesday, which is why we are starting this cruise on a Tuesday. We will end our first day on board with a BBQ at Pirates Bay, before heading south the following day. There, turquoise waters await us, where we can enjoy fantastic snorkelling, kayaking, or even kitesurfing \u2013 depending on the weather and the crew's wishes. After 2-3 heavenly (tropical?) days, we will prepare for the crossing to Grenada. We can tackle the approximately 80 nautical miles of open Atlantic passage either with an early start or an overnight crossing; here too, we will decide depending on the weather and the crew's needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grenada is an incredibly green island and also a paradise for sailors. Beautiful sheltered bays, good restaurants and bars contrast with tropical nature, waterfalls and corresponding hiking opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To the north of Grenada, we will visit Carriacou, which awaits us with turquoise blue waters and dreamlike (sparkling) beaches. A paradise for swimming and snorkelling. From Carriacou, it is not far to Union Island, where you can enjoy excellent snorkelling and kitesurfing. The small island was devastated by a hurricane in 2024 and is very happy about yachts visiting the reopened restaurants, thereby contributing to the reconstruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Union, we head to the Tobago Cays, where we'll snorkel with turtles and rays, protected by a vast horseshoe-shaped reef. Local fishermen will also be grilling lobster on the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the Tobago Cays, the journey continues towards Bequia, a mecca for sailors with a vast bay where numerous circumnavigators are anchored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Bequia, it's on to St. Vincent, which is very unspoilt and lushly green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From St. Vincent, it's approximately 90 nautical miles to Martinique, which we can do either with an overnight sail or by stopping over in St. Lucia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trip offers everything that Caribbean sailing is all about: open sea passages where we sail in trade winds and Atlantic swells, turquoise blue waters, white sandy beaches, and the lush tropical vegetation of the volcanic islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martinique \u2013 Sunday - Guadeloupe<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In Martinique, we'll start in Le Marin, the island's yachting hub and the best place to provision. After arriving and shopping, we'll head to St. Anne, where everyone can have their first swim. From there, we'll make a relaxed passage along the south-west side of the island towards Grand Anse. There, we can snorkel with turtles and marvel at colourful coral reefs in shallow water. Other potential stops in Martinique include Fort de France, the capital with its many colonial buildings. Further north, there are several beautiful bays for swimming, snorkelling or enjoying a nice restaurant ashore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From one of the northern bays, there's the first longer leg of about 5 hours towards Dominica. Dominica has been independent since 1978 and is still very close to nature. We can go on hikes into a lush tropical rainforest or simply relax at one of the many waterfalls. The starting point for excursions in the south is the capital, Roseau. Further north lies the anchorage of Portsmouth, from which you can set off directly for a hike. A highlight is the BBQ with DJ on the beach, organised by a local cooperative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a lot of jungle and greenery, we continue north, where we will anchor in Terre-de-Haut. Here too, there are great snorkelling spots, and those who wish can also join a dive with the local diving school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Terre de Haut, we head towards Guadeloupe, either along the west coast, which offers excellent diving and snorkelling spots once again, or towards Pointe-\u00e0-Pitre, the capital of Guadeloupe. There, we anchor off Ilet \u00e0 Cochon, where we can have one last swim and, by dinghy, take a trip into the capital of Guadeloupe. The city boasts a fascinating slavery museum, numerous restaurants and shops, and the quickest route to the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guadeloupe \u2013 Antigua and Barbuda<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We start these sailing sections either in Point \u00e0 Pitre or in Deshaies. Deshaies has a great beach with good snorkelling conditions with turtles and colourful reef fish. From here there are also great hikes, offering either dense rainforest or fantastic views over the bays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Deshaies, we set off towards Antigua, a crossing of approximately 6 hours. We will arrive in English Harbour or Falmouth Harbour, which offers an insight into colonial history with the World Heritage site \u201eNelson's Dockyard\u201c. Additionally, you can enjoy great snorkelling and be impressed by the numerous superyachts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To the east lies Green Island, an island with great snorkelling spots and an excellent kite-surfing location. A reef protects from the waves but allows the trade winds to pass, offering ideal conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The east coast offers more idyllic anchorages, such as Great Bird Island, which we will certainly visit before heading towards Barbuda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbuda captivates with endless, dazzling white sandy beaches and clear, turquoise waters \u2013 an absolute dream. Here we can go kitesurfing, snorkelling, or simply chill on the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final leg goes back to Antigua, from where there are regular flights to London. Alternatively, we can go back to Deshaies in Guadeloupe, which might make flight connections even easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Essentially, the trip from Guadeloupe to Antigua and Barbuda can be planned as a one or two-week trip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
