Martin & Katja

Welcome to

Prof Dr Katja Arzt
I have been a Professor of Regional Development and Social Processes since 2021 and am constantly working on questions of how sustainable regional development can be developed and continuously improved with and for the people in regions. In doing so, I focus on the integration of people, among other things. My experience with communication processes on conflicts with nature conservation issues in rural areas is particularly helpful here. I teach moderation methods and the theory and application of participation processes in the Master's programme "Sustainable Regional Development" and I teach "holistic project management" using practical examples. In the module "Stakeholder communication in biosphere reserves", students on the international degree programme "Biosphere Reserves Management" deal specifically with communication options in biosphere reserves worldwide.
I have a degree in agricultural engineering and am a trained mediator.
Sailing is the start of a new chapter for me, the marine ecosystem is new to me because I was more concerned with the land and its people. I'm very curious to see what awaits me!

In my professional career, I have worked in various roles in different environments, from architecture and planning to marketing and consulting, from buyer, trainer and manager in an international company to facilitator of groups and coach for negotiations.
I've been sailing since I was a child, crossed the Atlantic for the first time in 2019 and have been working as a skipper for charter trips since 2022. For me, life on a boat means freedom and independence, a life close to the elements and essential topics.

Biosphera - our boat:

Our Biosphera is a Neel 43, the smallest trimaran from the French shipyard Neel. We sail under the French flag.
